ISLAMABAD, October 14, 2026: Rana Sanaullah, adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on political affairs and a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Murad Saeed is currently in Afghanistan and is controlling the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government from there.
Speaking to Geo News, Rana Sanaullah alleged that Murad Saeed also played a role in Sohail Afridi's appointment as chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He further claimed that PTI founder Imran Khan had reportedly not even known Sohail Afridi personally.
Rana Sanaullah Comments on Failed Negotiations
Discussing the breakdown of negotiations, Rana Sanaullah said the government had made offers in good faith, addressing PTI's demands during the talks.
However, he alleged that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Murad Saeed, whom he described as operating behind the scenes, played a key role in the failure of the negotiations.
He also remarked that certain political figures did not believe in holding discussions with political stakeholders or resolving disputes through dialogue and mutual understanding.
Remarks on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Political Setup
Rana Sanaullah said former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur was not currently being assigned any responsibility in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that the province's existing political arrangement had been formed after careful consideration.
Editor's note: The claims regarding Murad Saeed's alleged presence in Afghanistan, his influence over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and his role in the failed negotiations are attributed to Rana Sanaullah. The supplied report does not include independent verification or a response from Murad Saeed or PTI.
